1. Features
Support for new Outlook
This preview release adds full support for New Outlook, Microsoft's modern email client. Ideagen Mail Manager now works with both Classic and New Outlook, easing the transition to Microsoft's updated platform.
Existing Windows users can switch to New Outlook while keeping familiar filing workflows. Key features like Prompt search and Desktop Search remain available for seamless use.
Filing workflows are optimised for New Outlook's design, ensuring a consistent, intuitive experience whether managing single or multiple emails. For setup details, please consult our IT Guide.
Note: The Ideagen Mail Manager Desktop with New Outlook support is in preview and still under development. It's not recommended for widespread deployment. Although extensively tested, please contact us if you experience issues. Early adopters should contact their Account Manager to upgrade, as uninstallation and reinstallation steps are required. Future updates will enhance New Outlook support and user experience.
Support for ARM-based processors
This feature introduces compatibility with ARM-based processors, including the latest Microsoft Surface Pro 11th edition which uses a Snapdragon chip with ARM architecture.
As ARM-based devices become increasingly prevalent in modern computing environments, this enhancement ensures Ideagen Mail Manager operates seamlessly on these platforms without requiring manual workarounds. Users with ARM-powered devices, including the Surface Pro lineup, can now install and run Mail Manager with full functionality.
Important: The Ideagen Mail Manager shell extension is not supported, so the "Copy Ideagen Mail Manager Link" and "Send Ideagen Mail Manager Link" won't appear in File Explorer. If needed, please contact your Account Manager to prioritise this feature.
2. Fixes
Compatibility issues with Microsoft Office version 2601 have been resolved. Microsoft releases updates regularly and depending on your IT configuration or automatic update settings, you may receive these updates at different times.
A specific build of Office 2601 caused Ideagen Mail Manager to stop functioning correctly, with symptoms including:
- No emails indexing (background indexer process would not start)
- Emails failing to file (the filer core process continuously restarting)
- The Ideagen Mail Manager system tray icon disappearing
- Inability to open the Ideagen Mail Manager Dashboard
Microsoft has since resolved the underlying issue in a subsequent Office update, and this release of Ideagen Mail Manager incorporates additional safeguards to ensure compatibility. This update supersedes the temporary quick fix previously announced.
