Performing a clean uninstall of Mail Manager
Who is this article for?Users who want to ensure Mail Manager is uninstalled entirely.
Local Admin permissions are required.
When you uninstall Mail Manager, certain config files are left behind.
This article will walk you through the steps you need to take need to fully uninstall the application.
1. Deactivating licenses
Before uninstalling, we recommend deactivating the license.
To deactivate a license:
- Access Mail Manager on the machine you want to uninstall it from.
- Go to Help.
- Select Key Manager.
- Click Deactivate.
Note that if you are no longer able to access the old PC to deactivate the license, this is not a critical step. You can use the Neo License Management Portal to deactivate the user's license that way instead, in that case.
2. Backing up data
Before uninstalling the app, we strongly recommend backing up any personal Collections you have stored locally.
To back up a Collection:
- Open Windows File Explorer.
- Browse to %AppData%\Oasys\Mail Manager.
- Copy Personal.mmcollection to another folder.
When you have finished the clean uninstall steps below, restore this file to the above folder.
3. Uninstalling app
To uninstall the app:
- Close Outlook.
- Go to Control Panel.
- Select Uninstall a program.
- Find Mail Manager in the list.
- Click Uninstall.
Once done, restart your computer.
4. Clearing local data
Installation
To clear local files:
- Open File Explorer.
- Navigate to the app installation folder.
If this was a per machine install, it will be C:\Program Files\Mail Manager.
If it was a per user install, it will be %localappdata%\Mail Manager\Program Files\.
Older versions may be under C:\Program Files\28 Hands\ or C:\Program Files\Oasys. - Check for a folder called Mail Manager.
- Delete it if it's present.
If you have only used one type of installer in the past, only one of these sets of containers may exist but we need to clear all that do.
Registry
To clear the registry:
- Click Start.
- Run regedit.
- Navigate to the app reg locations.
You can find them under HKEY_Current_User\Software\ and HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Wow6432Node\. - Remove these containers: 28Hands, Mail Manager, Oasys.
AppData
To clear application data:
- Open File Explorer.
- Navigate to %localappdata%.
- Delete these folders: 28Hands, Mail Manager, Oasys.
- Navigate to %appdata%.
- Delete these folders: 28Hands, Oasys, mailmanager.electronsearch.
Some of these locations may contain no Mail Manager related folders. This is expected as some of the folders are created only if certain features have been used within the app.
