This article provides an overview of the supported features and current limitations when using Mail Manager with New Outlook.

Understanding supported features

The following features are fully supported in New Outlook:

• Filing single and multiple messages
• Filing folders
• Viewing filing history in the Dashboard
• Using New and Classic Search
• Managing Locations
• Filing to Microsoft 365 locations (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams)
• Filing to non-Microsoft 365 locations (including Windows folders and ProjectWise)
• Adding Filed Category
• Setting and editing User Preferences
• Using Suggested Locations
• Filing all messages in a .pst file from Outlook
• Sending a link
• Receiving prompts on scheduled send (messages set to be sent at a later date)

Note: When viewing filing history in the Dashboard, the From, To and Subject columns will not initially be populated for emails filed from New Outlook. However, these columns will be populated for filed folder filing.

Understanding current limitations

The following features have limitations or are not currently supported in New Outlook:

• Filing all messages in a folder from Outlook – limited to 100 or fewer messages
• File the message I'm replying to - Microsoft has not yet provided the API functionality so we can add this feature.
• No Mail Manager buttons in the New Outlook ribbon - Microsoft does not allow this with New Outlook
• Assigning existing folders as filed folders– not currently supported
• Filing from Multiple mailboxes – not currently supported
• Classic Outlook compatibility – the ribbon is disabled while New Outlook mode is active, meaning you cannot use Mail Manager in Classic Outlook simultaneously. You must choose to use either New Outlook mode or Classic Outlook mode
• Forced filing prompt on close of message – the feature that prompts you to file when closing a message after reading is not currently available due to limitations in New Outlook
