This article outlines the new features and improvements included in Ideagen Mail Manager version 15.3, focusing on taking New Outlook support out of preview, improving everyday reliability, and resolving issues reported by customers and early adopters.
1. Features
New Outlook support is now live
New Outlook (NOW Mode) support is no longer in preview. Organisations can enable and use Mail Manager with New Outlook as a supported production experience, with clearer preferences labelling and continued alignment towards Classic Outlook behaviour where it matters most for filing and search.
File system and Non-M365 filing in New Outlook
Customers who file only to the file system and non-M365 locations can now use Mail Manager with New Outlook without needing a SharePoint or OneDrive configuration workaround. Tenant discovery and authentication are handled so these environments work just like they do in Classic Outlook.
Multi-monitor support for the filing prompt
In New Outlook, the filing prompt now opens on the monitor you are working on, rather than always appearing on the primary Windows display. This brings the New Outlook experience closer to Classic Outlook for users with more than one screen.
“FiledBy” information for emails filed in New Outlook
Emails filed using New Outlook now record who filed them. The filer’s name appears in the FiledBy column in Search, consistent with emails filed from Classic Outlook.
Clearer preferences for New Outlook and Classic Outlook
Preview labels have been removed from preferences now that New Outlook support is generally available. Settings that still apply only to Classic Outlook are labelled “(Classic Outlook Only)”, so it is clearer which options apply in each environment.
Service availability notifications
If Mail Manager services are disconnected or encounter authentication problems, Windows notifications can alert you, and the system tray icon reflects a disconnected state. This makes it easier to spot when New Outlook filing is not available and take action sooner.
2. Fixes
User Preferences after switching between Classic and New Outlook
Some users found that User Preferences disappeared after switching between Classic Outlook and New Outlook, and only returned after restarting the PC or signing out. Preferences now remain available after a mode switch without requiring a restart.
Restart Ideagen Mail Manager behaviour
Choosing Restart Ideagen Mail Manager from the tray now correctly stops existing Mail Manager processes before starting again. This avoids duplicate processes and incomplete restarts when using New Outlook.
More reliable startup during updates and mode switches
Startup handling has been strengthened so Mail Manager recovers more reliably during updates and when switching modes, and so only one core filing instance remains running.
SharePoint Followed Sites auto-discovery
SharePoint auto-discovery for Followed Sites could fail for some customers after Microsoft Graph API behaviour changes, resulting in no followed locations being found. Discovery now uses a compatible page size and continues through pagination so followed sites are returned correctly.
Teams location auto-discovery
Intermittent failures when auto-discovering Microsoft Teams locations have been addressed. Discovery is more resilient when Microsoft Graph omits optional fields.
Incorrect or blank “FiledBy” values in Search
In some cases, Search showed a blank Filed By value or an unexpected number instead of the user’s name. Search now uses a fallback to recover the correct identity when the original filing metadata is missing.
Installation issue causing SQLite load errors
Some installations failed to load a required component, which could prevent Mail Manager from working correctly after install. The installer now includes the missing dependency so these environments start cleanly.
Diagnostics setting reset when returning to Classic Outlook
After switching back to Classic Outlook, the New Outlook diagnostics setting is now reset correctly, so diagnostic logging is not left enabled unintentionally.
Shared OneDrive filing returning a 400 Bad Request
Filing emails to a shared OneDrive folder could fail with a 400 Bad Request error. This has been resolved so filing to shared OneDrive folders now works correctly when the user has the appropriate permissions.
Security hardening
This release includes security and dependency updates, including remediation of high-severity findings in the Teams Chat Filer component, as part of Ideagen’s ongoing commitment to a secure and compliant product.
