Setting up an Ideagen Mail Manager trial
Who is this article for?
Users wishing to run a trial of the solution.
No special access or permissions are required.
Before conducting a trial of Ideagen Mail Manager, we'd like you to complete several preparatory activities to ensure a smooth setup session with our Sales Team.
This article outlines each activity in detail, so you can come prepared!
1. Preparing for the session
1.1. Users and permissions
To prepare for your trial setup session:
- Decide who will participate in the trial.
- Determine where to store your Shared Configuration folder, which hosts files for centrally controlling user preferences and sharing filing locations.
- Ensure all Ideagen Mail Manager users have read/write access to this location.
- Create the Shared Configuration in either a File Server or SharePoint location.
Note
For SharePoint, we recommend creating a blank SharePoint site called Mail Manager and adding a folder called Mail Manager Config. Alternatively, use an existing site where all users are members and add a new Library to keep the files separate.
Note
For File Server, add a folder to your chosen share or drive as 'Mail Manager Config'.
1.2. Security policies
To ensure compatibility:
- Review which security policies are in place within your organisation.
- Ensure the required applications and URLs are whitelisted.
- Review considerations for Attack Surface Reduction (ASR).
Important
If you have software restrictions, policies, or white-listing software in use (such as Applocker, used to block executable files from running in %appdata% and %localappdata% locations), inform our Sales Team so we can provide an alternative installation.
2. Attending the session
During the trial setup session, our Sales Team will screen share with an end user and complete the following activities:
- Provide a link to the pre-installer along with license ID and password.
- Create the installer package using a license ID, passcode, and shared config path.
- Create both an .exe and .msi file, as required.
- Install the package on one device.
- Set up the Admin Preferences.
- Create a collection file and add filing locations.
You will receive a fully licensed and configured installer that can run on any machine and will inherit the preset preferences and locations, allowing everyone to begin filing immediately.
