This article outlines the new features and improvements included in Ideagen Mail Manager version 15.2, focusing on an improved New Outlook experience, better configurability, and security hardening.
1. Features
Suggested Locations for New Outlook
Previously unavailable in New Outlook, Suggested Locations is now fully supported in this version. Using a local machine-learning engine running entirely on your device, Mail Manager analyses your filing history and automatically suggests the most relevant locations when filing an email, bringing New Outlook to greater feature parity with the Classic Outlook client.
Improved New Outlook configuration experience
Based on feedback from early adopters of the 15.1 preview, we have significantly improved how users configure Mail Manager for New Outlook. A dedicated New Outlook section has been added to the User Preferences desktop application, making it easy to enable or disable New Outlook support without navigating complex settings.
This centralised configuration area also consolidates related options, including the diagnostic mode setting, previously surfaced as a persistent system console window into a single, intuitive location. The result is a cleaner, less intrusive experience for everyday users and IT administrators alike.
Per-machine installation support for New Outlook
Organisations that deploy Mail Manager using per-machine installations can now configure and control New Outlook settings at the machine level. This includes support for admin locking via AdminEmailFiling.cfg, giving IT teams the same degree of control they are accustomed to in the Classic Outlook deployment model.
Updated filing icon for New Outlook
The Mail Manager filing action icon has been refreshed for New Outlook to create a clear visual distinction between the Classic Outlook and New Outlook clients. This strengthens product identity across both platforms and reduces confusion for users who work across both environments.
Note: The Ideagen Mail Manager Desktop with New Outlook support is in preview and still under development. It's not recommended for widespread deployment. Although extensively tested, please contact us if you experience issues. Early adopters should contact their Account Manager to upgrade, as uninstallation and reinstallation steps are required. Future updates will enhance New Outlook support and user experience.
2. Fixes
Security hardening
This release includes significant security and dependency updates across multiple components, bringing Mail Manager in line with current industry best practices. These updates are applied proactively as part of Ideagen's ongoing commitment to maintaining a secure and compliant product.
Search timestamp now correctly updated after using New Search
Users who regularly search filing locations may have noticed that the Last Used date on the Location Status screen was not updating when searching via the newer search experience — only the classic search would refresh this value. This could cause confusion around indexing behaviour, as locations appeared less recently used than they actually were.
This issue has now been resolved. The Last Used timestamp updates correctly regardless of which search experience is used.
