Troubleshooting seeing all locations for filing
Who is this article for?Users who want to troubleshoot the issue of seeing all locations for filing.
No elevated permissions are required.
This article outlines reasons why some locations may not be visible and offers troubleshooting tips.
1. Shared configuration
A Mail Manager installation typically uses a shared configuration folder, set up during implementation, which includes shared settings and collections for users.
If you reinstalled Mail Manager using the default installer or an outdated bundled installer, check with colleagues for the correct shared configuration folder under Tools > User Preferences.
Ensure you can access this folder. If it's not on a file system, remove the "SharePoint:" prefix before accessing it in a browser.
2. Establishing type
If the shared configuration is loaded correctly, identify which collection/location is missing.
For manually managed .mmcollection files, check if they appear in Tools > Locations and if there are any loading issues.
For auto-discovered collections, confirm the system type.
Is it a file system collection, indicated by a specific status icon?
Was the drive accessible during the last scan? Did it require mounting or a VPN connection?
For SharePoint collections, check if other collections are visible but not the relevant one.
Is the folder for emails already created if auto-discovery isn't set to create it?
Could the computer access the Internet/SharePoint server during the last run? Are permissions set correctly for user access?
