2. Solution
2.1. Classic Search
To resolve the issue:
- Access the Classic Search option.
- Choose an email to open and proceed with the attempt to open it.
This will prompt the Select an app... window to appear. You may need to attempt this multiple times to get the window to appear. - Select Outlook.
- Click Always.
You should now be able to open the email as usual using the New Search function.
2.2. Local File
Alternatively:
- Double-click any email in Outlook.
- Click File.
- Select Save as.
- Choose a location you can access easily.
- Navigate to the file location.
- Right-click the file.
- Choose Open With....
- Select Choose another app.
- Highlight Outlook.
- Click Always.

You should now be able to open the email as usual using the New Search function.
