Creating Static Collections using the Auto Discovery Setup
Who is this article for?Users who want to create static .mmcollection files from Auto Discovery.
Auto Discovery tool access is required.
Static Collections can be used to reduce the amount of network traffic during the discovery of Locations by substituting discovered Locations with ones saved in static Collection files. This article walks you through how to create them.
1. Creating Static Collections files
To create a Static Collection:
- Navigate to the Mail Manager installation folder.
By default, this is C:\Program Files\Mail Manager\x64 or %localappdata%\Mail Manager\Program Files\x64. - Open MailManager.Autodiscovery.exe.
- Click Auto Discovery for the relevant header (SharePoint or File System).
- Select Open Location.
This will open a temp folder (e.g. %temp%\Mail Manager\AutoDiscovery\SharePoint). - In a separate window, navigate to your Shared Configuration Folder.
- Copy the existing auto discovery file.
- Paste it into the temp folder.
- Select Load Setup File.
This will open the temp folder again. - Choose the required auto discovery .txt file.
- Click Open.
- Once loaded, click Discover Locations.
If using the SharePoint option, you will be prompted for your credentials. - The application will begin discovering locations based on the auto discovery file and your access permissions. Folders you don't have permissions to access will not be discovered.
- Once finished, click Open Location.
You can find your newly created .mmcollections files in the sub-folder called Collections. - Copy these .mmcollection files to the Shared Configuration Folder.
