Using the SharePoint web search

Web search access is required.
When setup, emails filed to SharePoint can be searched using Mail Manager's web search interface.
This article outlines considerations and instructions for using the feature.
1. Considerations
Pros
- Access search results from any device.
- Search results available soon after filing.
- No waiting for your local index to update emails filed by your colleagues.
- Quickly search Locations you have not used before.
- Results only include items you have permissions to access.
Cons
- Results won't include emails filed to non SharePoint integrations (e.g. local and network folders, Procore, etc.)
- Fewer filters available.
- Limited column sorting.
- Only available when online.
- Opening a filed email in Outlook requires it to be downloaded first.
2. Using web search
2.1. Desktop
Before using the web search, your Administrator must have set up SharePoint indexing and updated the AdminEmailFiling.cfg to include the following:
EnableWebSearch=1
WebSearchButtonText=Open the web search
You can change the value of 'WebSearchButtonText' to rename the menu item.
To use the web search:
- Open the Search menu in Mail Manager.
- Select Open the web search.
The web search will open in your default browser. By default the most recent results will be displayed for all locations - Use the Search By Filed Locations as required.
- Use the Search For Any Keywords as required.
- Use the filters in the Filed By pane to further limit the results shown.
2.2. Web add-in
Before using the web search, your Administrator must have set up SharePoint indexing.

- Open the Mail Manager Add-In from the Apps menu.
- Select Search.
The web search will open in your default browser. By default the most recent results will be displayed for all locations. - Use the Search By Filed Locations as required.
- Use the Search For Any Keywords as required.
- Use the filters in the Filter pane to further limit the results shown.
